As we get closer to the event, sneak peaks of drawings and designs will be released with the BIG reveal being onsite at this year’s Barkitecture Activity Zone sponsored by W.B. Henry Contracting Inc. in partnership with AIA Charleston member firms and contractors.

PICK ME! SC RUNS JULY 14 – 23

Unleash the Love! Get ready for the most thrilling, tail-wagging event of the year as Pick Me! SC returns to a shelter or Petco near you from July 20th to 28rd. Brace yourself for an extraordinary lifesaving extravaganza, as more than 45 shelters, rescue organizations, and Petco locations across the state unite for this monumental adoption affair – the largest of its kind in the entire country.

Powering this sensational 10-day event is none other than Petco Love, teaming up with BOBS from Skechers. Pick Me! SC is led by No Kill South Carolina 2024, a lifesaving initiative of Charleston Animal Society.

“This year’s goal is to save 2,000 animals,” said Chief Project Officer of No Kill South Carolina 2024, Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA. “During summer, animal shelters and rescue organizations face their greatest challenges, and our mission is clear: to find as many dogs and cats safe, loving homes as possible.”

When you adopt, please remember to bring a leash for your new dog or a carrier for your new cat!

Pick Me! SC is offering lifesaving spay-neuter surgeries to  250 animals across the state, ensuring their readiness for adoption. “Many smaller, rural shelters face financial obstacles in providing these crucial procedures, but Petco Love has generously provided funding, enabling our team to travel across the state and host these spay-neuter events for shelter pets,” said No Kill South Carolina 2024 Project Director Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA.

As part of the spay-neuter blitz, veterinarians and staff will travel to The Humane Society of Greenwood, the Animal Shelter of Florence County, Williamsburg County Animal Care and Control, Darlington County Humane Society, Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter, A Second Chance Animal Shelter, Marion County Animal Shelter, Florence Area Humane Society, and Charleston Animal Society.

The goal is to do at least 50 surgeries a day for five days Sunday July 9th through Thursday the 13th.

CELEBRITY CO-CHAIRS OF PICK ME! SC

Be on the lookout for the social media duo @aguyandagolden, Johnathan Lower and his Golden Retriever Teddy. They are the 2023 co-chairs of Pick Me! SC and the fans on Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube couldn’t be more excited.

“We are so glad to be a part of this year’s statewide adoption event June 14 – 23,” said Lower. “If we can inspire just one family to go to their hometown shelter and adopt – it will make everything worth it.”

Look for Teddy on TV spots that will air across the Palmetto State and on the cover of Carolina Tails Magazine, the largest pet magazine in the Carolinas.

Teddy has more than 1 million followers on social media and videos showing him in his custom-built doghouse with a TV and couch have amassed more than 1 billion views! Johnathan and his team were recently featured in People Magazine after they launched “Shelter Dog Saturdays” to spotlight dogs less fortunate than Teddy and help them find homes.
